Adventist HealthCare

Adventist HealthCare is a non-profit, integrated network of health care providers including Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Washington Adventist Hospital.

At Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, board certified physicians with specialties in hematology, oncology, general and reconstructive surgeries provide leadership for our comprehensive diagnostic cancer treatment care program. Since the program inception, they have diagnosed and treated over 5,000 cancer cases. They work collaboratively with an oncology certified nursing staff, an onsite pharmacist and an oncology certified clinical nurse specialist to manage the anatomical and functional changes experienced by cancer patients.

At Shady Grove, our goal is to maximize the health and quality of life for our patients. We offer access to clinical trials, as well as the latest modalities of radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies to treat malignancies of the breast, lung, colon and blood. Specialized therapies include our thyroid cancer treatment program, which has provided successful outcomes for hundreds of patients.

As part of our outreach effort we offer early detection programs which screen to identify breast, colon, and prostate cancers and recognize high-risk patients. We also address the spiritual needs of the patient and family through counseling, support groups and pastoral care services.

The Cancer Care team at Shady Grove is committed to giving patients with cancer and their family the best care that technology can provide. As a hospital committed to its community, we are proud to have been awarded our second consecutive three-year accreditation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

At Washington Adventist Hospital the oncology program combines sophisticated diagnostic and treatment services with compassion and attention to every patients unique needs. Our comprehensive oncology program covers every stage of cancer treatment from preventative care to diagnosis, pre-treatment evaluation, staging, treatment, rehabilitation, and post-treatment monitoring. Our Radiation Oncology department is the only voluntarily accredited site in the area by the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). We have a strong brachytherapy program including gynecologic implants, prostate seed implants and intravascular irradiation for in-stent restenosis. We also provide support services through education, support groups and social programs.
